Short answer: The big consumer events in the next year are Big Smoke Las Vegas (November 6 and 7, 2026), the free Ybor City Cigar Heritage Festival in Tampa (December 6, 2026), Puro Sabor in Nicaragua (January 25 to 30, 2027, week packages already sold out), Procigar in the Dominican Republic (February 16 to 19, 2027), and Tampa Cigar Week and The Great Smoke, which both land in mid-March 2027. Winter is harvest and factory season in Central America and the Caribbean, which is why the two great destination festivals happen now. These are full trips rather than a night out, and they book up early.
Puro Sabor, Nicaragua

Trade shows you cannot get into
Two of the biggest names in the cigar world are not open to fans at all. The Premium Cigar Association Convention and Trade Show returns to the Las Vegas Convention Center on March 5 to 8, 2027, and it requires PCA membership, which is for retailers, manufacturers, distributors and media. InterTabac in Dortmund, Germany, held September 15 to 17, 2026, is a trade fair for the same crowd. You will read a lot of new-release news that comes out of both, but the consumer festivals above are where you get to smoke them.
What happened to the Habanos Festival
The Festival del Habano in Havana is traditionally held in late February, but the 2026 edition was postponed in February and canceled in July, and no 2027 date has been announced by Habanos. For American smokers there is a second issue. U.S. rules restrict travel to Cuba, and since September 24, 2020, travelers subject to U.S. rules can no longer bring Cuban cigars home as personal baggage, including Cuban cigars bought in a third country. How to pick the right festival
Start local and cheap. A regional festival with a cigar bag included, or the free Ybor City festival, tells you if you enjoy the format before you spend Vegas money.
Big Smoke Las Vegas is Cigar Aficionado's flagship night. General admission already includes 25+ cigars and a dinner buffet. The seminar packages are worth it if you want to hear from the people behind the top-rated cigars of the year.
Puro Sabor and Procigar take you into the factories and fields. Closer to home, the Drew Estate Barn Smoker in Florida or Connecticut offered a farm day for $150 in 2026. Florida sold out, so buy early next year.
Pick the multi-day city weeks in Tampa, Houston or Chicago. There is something different every night, and not everyone has to love cigars as much as you do.
What to bring to a cigar festival
- A cutter you trust. Event cutters get passed around all day. See how to cut a cigar if you want to brush up.
- A travel case. You will leave with more cigars than you came with, and a festival bag is not a humidor. A crush-proof case keeps them in shape for the drive home.
- A lighter, if you are driving. The TSA does not allow torch lighters in carry-on or checked bags, so if you fly, leave yours at home.
- Water and a plan for getting home. Festivals pour freely and cigars dehydrate you. Book the rideshare before the first drink.
- Cash for tips. Bartenders and rollers work hard at these events.
